Balfour After School Club

The After School club at Balfour Primary takes place in the Key Stage 2 canteen.

The canteen is an excellent location for our club, it is large, light and airy, and has direct access to the school playground.

In addtion to the playground for our outdoor play, we also have lots of space for indoor play, and we have occassional use of the arts and crafts room.

Our After School Club is open every day that Balfour Primary is open, for children in Reception right through to Year 6.

Junior children make their own way to the canteen where they will be met by our team. Infant children are collected directly from their class and walked to the club by our team.

Meet The Team

Our Balfour Club Co-ordinator started her career with Class Of Their Own as a Volunteer at the end of 2013, she then became a permanent member of the team at Balfour in January 2014 as an Apprentice.  She has completed both her NVQ Level 2 & Level 3 in Playwork and hopes to continue her studies with children.

Dani loves working with children and seeing them having fun, trying new things and developing. She says “I still enjoy playing and acting like a big kid myself! It’s great to see the way the kids are in the moment, finding all sorts of ways to play with things that I would never think of!”
Dani enjoys being active in and out of work – dancing, swimming and cycling – and being creative with drawing and painting.

Is the Assistant Club Co-ordinator.  Karen was previously working at a School as a Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisor.  She has a NVQ Level 2 in Playwork as well as Paediatric First Aid.  Karen enjoys baking, sewing, gardening and reading in her spare time.
She loves being able to support children in a Play environment where they can enjoy themselves in a safe setting.

Is a Play Leader at the Club and has been with us since June 2016.  Millie is currently at University studying for a Social Science Qualification to add to her First Aid, Safeguarding and Health & Social Care Qualifications.  Millie loves to dance and has been doing so for over 16 years!
About working for Class Of Their Own, Millie says “I love working here as I get the chance to work as part of a great team that supports and provides the children with a safe, fun place to explore and enjoy themselves.  My job is incredibly rewarding and I take pleasure in every minute of meeting, working and playing with such joyous, energetic children!”

Adam has been with us since October 2016 and is a qualified First Aider.  Adam came to work with Class Of Their Own because he find children’s creative spirits infectious.  He has a Music Production degree and still writes music as well as teaching guitar.  Adam loves gardening and outdoor activities such as surfing and mountain-biking.

Tom joined us in 2016 having previously volunteered for a non-profit organisation for children needing behavioural support and learning difficulties.  He’s a qualified First Aider.

Mariana is a Play Leader at Balfour having joined Class Of Their Own in 2016.  Prior to this Mariana worked as a Kids Club Supervisor at Hard Rock Resort Cancun in Mexico for 2 years.

Mariana loves working with children and finds it very rewarding, enjoyable and fun.  She is passionate about seeing them have fun in a friendly and happy environment.  Mariana enjoys doing arts & crafts and loves seeing the children’s creative side as well as their way of thinking.

In her spare time she enjoys a well-rehearsed fitness routine which includes Yoga, Pilates, Body Balance and Zumba!

Nick took a break from working at Balfour After School Club and is now back to return to his role as Play Leader.  Prior to joining Class Of Their Own Nick worked as a Learning Support Assistant at BACA.

Outside of work Nick is a keen Musician.

Kerttu joined the Class Of Their Own team in mid 2017 and has now become a part of the permanent team at Balfour.  Kerttu is originally from Estonia and has a Degree in Fine Art, before joining us she was an Art Teacher.

Kerttu believes that everyone should be brave and experimental in what inspires and interests them and hopes to be able to help the children at the Club to realise their potential.
