Brighton Downs After School Club
The After School, Breakfast and Holiday clubs take place in the school canteen at Downs Junior School.
The school canteen is newly built and is an excellent location for our club. The canteen has lots of space for indoor play, and we also have use of the large playground outside. We are also able to use the adventure playground.
Our After School & Breakfast Clubs are open every day that Downs Junior School is open for children from Downs Junior and Downs Infant Schools. Junior children make their own way to the canteen and infant children are collected directly from their class and walked to the club by our team.
Breakfast Club: 8.00am until start of school.
After School Club: End of school day until 6.00pm
We are open every school holiday to children from around the local area from 8.30am until 5.30pm.

Our entrance is in Grantham Road, and is clearly marked with signs. There is a bell to the right of the gate, please ring this and we will let you in.
Availability
The After School Club at Downs Junior School is very popular, and is currently full Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We run a waiting list, and we recommend that you add your name to the waiting list as soon as you know which days you want. We are currently predicting a wait of:
Monday - 2 months
Tuesday - 3 months
Wednesday - 3 months
Thursday - 4 months
Friday - spaces available
To book an After School Club place, you need to complete a Downs Registration Form and return to the After School Club or the address shown on the form with a £30 deposit.

The Team
Emelye Perry
is the club supervisor. Emelye has been working for us for over 3 years. She has worked in all our clubs and has gained experience as an assistant supervisor, and also a holiday club supervisor. She has been waiting for the right role to come up within the organisation, and she has got loads of new and exciting ideas. Emelye is an arts graduate and regularly exhibits her work. Her artwork focuses the effect of different environments so you can be sure that there will be something different in the club every day. The team have worked with Emelye before, and they are excited about her starting at the club.
Ann Maskell
is the Assistant Supervisor (with special responsibility for the Infants). She is a very experienced childcare worker and has been employed with Class Of Their Own for over 5 years (she is the longest running member of staff)! Ann has got childcare qualifications and is currently studying for her NVQ 3 in Playwork. Ann is a qualified first aider. She works at the After School Club Monday to Friday.
George Cheimonas
is the Assistant Supervisor at the club and is currently studying Music Technology at University too. He has lots of experience of working with children in variety of settings here and in Greece.
Lizzie Cornford
is a Playworker in the club. She started with us as a volunteer, and we were so impressed we asked her to start working for us. She has a degree in psychology. She works at Cardinal Newman school as a teaching assistant during the day.
Hannah Trinnaman
is a playworker and works every day at the after school club. She is currently studying towards her level 2 in playwork.
Lloyd Ritchie
is a playworker at the club. He is currently studying for his A Levels. He volunteered over the summer holidays at Entertainment in the Park for Brighton and Hove Council.
Susie Miller
is a student at Falmer University. She is studying for an education degree. She works at the Downs Breakfast Club.
Rebecca Nicholls
is a Playworker at the breakfast club. She is originally from Spain, where she obtained a degree in Social Studies. She holds a level 2 playwork qualification, and is currently studying for a level 3 in playwork.
