Downs After School Club
The After School, Breakfast and Holiday clubs take place in the school canteen at Downs Junior School.
The school canteen is newly built and is an excellent location for our club. The canteen has lots of space for indoor play, and we also have use of the large playground outside. We are also able to use the adventure playground.
Our After School & Breakfast Clubs are open every day that Downs Junior School is open for children from Downs Junior and Downs Infant Schools. Junior children make their own way to the canteen and infant children are collected directly from their class and walked to the club by our team.
Breakfast Club: 8.00am until start of school.
After School Club: End of school day until 6.00pm
We are open every school holiday to children from around the local area from 8.30am until 5.30pm.

Our entrance is in Grantham Road, and is clearly marked with signs. There is a bell to the right of the gate, please ring this and we will let you in.
Availability
The After School Club at Downs Junior School is very popular, and is currently full Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We run a waiting list, and we recommend that you add your name to the waiting list as soon as you know which days you want. We are currently predicting a wait of:
Monday - 1 month
Tuesday - 3 months
Wednesday - 3 months
Thursday - 3 months
Friday - spaces available
To book an After School Club place, you need to complete a Downs Registration Form and return to the After School Club or the address shown on the form with a £35 registration fee.
Pick Ups
We operate a daily pick up service from Downs Infant School.

The Team
Joanne (Jo)
Jo has recently joined Class Of Their Own. She is a qualified primary school teacher who specialised in Modern Foreign Languages at primary level, following on from her Spanish and French Honours degree in 2003.
Jo is originally from Northern Ireland where she began babysitting twelve years ago. She continues to babysit in Brighton and Hove and is a tutor when she is not working as a supervisor. Jo has experience of working with children from the ages of 4 to 13 years old. She worked in a children's activity camp in Chambery, south west France, during the final months of her teacher training in June and July 2007. She also worked as an Activities Organiser and Host for the American Institute of Foreign Study, welcoming American students to London as part of a residential summer camp.
Jo has had Child Protection, Health and Safety and Inclusion training and recently gained her First Aid certificate through Class Of Their Own.
Jo enjoys horse riding, reading and baking 'buns'. She enjoys chatting and getting to know the children and devising and learning new games to play together.
Vanessa
is a playworker in the club. She is originally from Spain and has been living in Brighton for a few years. She started working with us as a volunteer, and is now working every day. She is about to complete her NVQ Level 2 in playwork, and is hoping to progres to her Level 3 qualification. Vanessa is a qualified Paediatric First Aider, plus she has done
Child Protection Training, Challenging Behaviour Training
and Makaton.
Hannah
is a playworker and works every day at the after school club. She has completed her NVQ Level 2 in playwork.
Abigail (Abi)
is a playworker in the club. She joined us in summer 2010 and she is a talented musician and plays in her own band. She has a BA in Performance and Visual Arts. She has an NVQ level 2 in playwork
Amanda
is a playworker at the club. She has worked for Class Of Their Own for several years. She works as a teaching assistant during the day, and she is very experienced in dealing with children on a one to one basis.
