School Road Holiday Club is open this October Half Term from 16th until 27th October.

star This club is popular with children of all ages, and is one of our most popular clubs for Junior children.

Club Information

The Holiday Club takes place in the school canteen at West Hove School.

The school canteen has lots of space for indoor play, we also have use of the two Infant School playgrounds, including the 'snug' equipment.

Access

Entrance to the canteen is through the Infant school entrance. We have a video entry system in place.

Who is the club for?

The holiday club is open to all local children, not just those attending West Hove. Approximately 50% of the children at the holiday club attend from West Hove School.

Meet The Team

Josephine 

is the Supervisor at School Road. She has an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Playwork and is currently working towards her Level 3. Josephine is paediatric and epi pen first aid trained, has her safeguarding qualification and has also taken courses in autism awareness and challenging behaviour. She has a degree in 3D Design and makes large installations and sculptures for festivals and community events – including the Children’s Parade, which is sponsored by Class of Their Own. Josephine enjoys inspiring the children with creative project at the club. When not working at School Road. Josephine runs her own business selling vintage handbags online.

 

Josephine was our Playworker of the Year 2012.

 

Paula

is the Assistant Supervisor and joined Class Of Their Own as a Playworker at the beginning of January 2012, she quickly became a permanent member of staff working 4 afternoons a week.  She's worked with children for over 10 years and really enjoys engaging with them and supporting their development.
She works as a Teaching Assistant in West Hove Junior School and at lunchtimes, as a Play Leader a post she has held for 5 years. Paula assists the school lunchtime play leaders to organise games to run for others to join in with and facilitate free-play by providing a wide range of equipment to choose from. Paula believes the positive relationships she has built up with the children continues into the After School Club because they know I am approachable, fair and have a keen sense of fun.

Qualifications/certificates: Up to date in Basic First Aid and Safeguarding Children. NVQ3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools, NVQ2 in Helping in schools programme. Additionally, Paula has attended several Early Years training courses in creative development, language and literacy.
Paula is mum to two teenage boys and has a passion for art and crafts and has attended many courses for interest such as: Drawing from the Creative side of the mind, leaded (stained) glass, sculpture, and felt making; she loves cooking meals for her family; she is an active committee member for her son’s cricket club. And…life before children was in Retail and she was a store manager of several shops in London's West End.
Paula has recently completed her NVQ Level 2 in Playwork and is now working towards her Level 3.

 

Anna

Anna is the Trainee Assistant Supervisor at Connaught, as well as working as a midday supervisor in a Primary School. She is currently finishing her degree in Technical Engineering in Industrial Design. Anna has a First Aid qualification, and has attended child protection training. She loves to be creative and make costumes, paint and listen to music and dance. She enjoys playing football, and speaks four different languages….and counting!
